Public House is an industrial-style bistro and bar at 263 Adelaide Terrace in the Perth CBD, and it handles dogs better than most city venues because the front patio is genuinely usable: an undercover alfresco strip along Adelaide Terrace where a dog can settle out of the weather. It is a sizeable, social room built around after-work drinks and pub plates, so aim for a quieter lunch or early-evening slot if your dog prefers calm.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor undercover alfresco area along the front of the venue; the air-conditioned indoor dining room is people only. The patio runs a mix of high and low tables with enough space to settle a dog beside or under the table. Staff will usually bring water on request, but a travel bowl is worth packing for busy service. The cover is a real asset in Perth summer, giving shade through the afternoon and shelter if the weather turns.

The vibe

The kitchen does generous pub-style plates built on local produce: the steak sandwich and the chicken parmigiana with ham, tomato sugo and mozzarella are the regular picks, alongside prawn and chorizo linguine and sweet potato fries, with a broad beer and WA craft list behind the bar. It fills up around after-work hours midweek, when it gets loud, so a settled, sociable dog is the right match. It trades Tuesday to Saturday, closing Sunday and Monday, with Saturday an evening service from 4pm.

Getting there

It is a short walk from Elizabeth Quay or Perth Station, which is the easy way in. Street parking on Adelaide Terrace is limited and paid; the CPP and commercial carparks off Murray Street or St Georges Terrace are the backup.

Langley Park on the Swan River and Supreme Court Gardens are both a few minutes away for open grass, though both are on-lead. For a proper off-lead run, Ozone Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits down the hill in East Perth with an agility setup inside the fence.
