The setup. Rosa's at The Lawns is an all-day garden bar and wood-fired pizzeria at King George Terrace, on the edge of Commonwealth Park near the National Rose Gardens and Lake Burley Griffin. The whole concept is built outdoors around sweeping lawns, which makes it one of the easier restaurants in the Triangle to bring a dog to.

Dog access. Dogs are welcome across the outdoor deck and the surrounding lawns, where you can set up at a table or on a picnic rug. Inside the enclosed dining areas is for assistance animals only. Keep your dog on-lead and tucked in beside you so the paths stay clear for staff. Bring a collapsible bowl, as there is no fixed water station.

Lots of open lawn and foot traffic here on a sunny day. Pick a spot at the edge rather than the busiest run of tables, and keep the lead short near the walking paths.

Known for. Seasonal wood-fired pizzas and the flame-baked panuozzo, good coffee for a morning visit, and a garden-bar shift at sunset. The rose garden backdrop is the setting.

Getting there. 7 King George Terrace, Parkes, central in the National Triangle. Public parking sits around King George Terrace and near the Visitors Centre off Barrine Drive, and it fills fast on sunny weekends and during park festivals, so arrive early. The lake shared paths reach the door.

Nearby with the dogs. The Lake Burley Griffin path is right alongside for a flat lakeside walk, Commonwealth Park gives big open grass for a stroll, and the adjoining National Rose Gardens are a scenic on-lead loop.

Best early for a weekend brunch or at sunset for the garden-bar mood. Good for social dogs happy on a busy, open lawn.
