The Italian Mildura is an authentic Southern Italian paninoteca, deli and bar at 94 Langtree Avenue in the city heart. For dog owners it is a footpath-table affair: a few bistro tables on Langtree Avenue where well-behaved dogs are welcome while you work through a panini and a cannoli.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath seating along Langtree Avenue. As a small, food-focused deli the inside is off-limits to pets. Space out front is limited and the street is lively, so it suits calm dogs; bring your own water bowl, as one is not guaranteed.

Good to know. The panini are widely rated the best in town and the cannoli are the other drawcard, with Calabrian recipes throughout. Daytime is the lunchtime sweet spot; note the kitchen switches to dinner-only on Saturday evening.

Getting there. It is central on Langtree Avenue near the shops. Street parking is available but busy, with nearby council car parks and Deakin Avenue as backups at peak times.

Nearby with the dogs. Langtree Mall is a short walk for a pedestrian wander, and the Mildura riverfront with the Rio Vista fenced dog park is a short drive for a proper off-leash run.

Lunch is the prime time for the footpath tables. If the handful of outdoor seats are taken, a loop of Langtree Mall fills the wait nicely.
