Matso's is Broome's landmark brewery, sitting above Roebuck Bay in Old Broome, and it is one of the more reliably dog-friendly spots in town. Dogs are welcome in the shady outdoor beer garden and on the veranda, which is where the bay views are anyway.

The dog setup. Dogs go in the outdoor, undercover beer garden and veranda seating, not the indoor bar or restaurant. Keep your dog on a lead at all times. Water bowls are often provided and staff are used to dogs, but bring your own bowl given the Kimberley heat.

The garden fills up around sunset and live-music nights. Get in early for a shaded, low-traffic corner so your dog isn't wedged in the thick of it.

Good to know. The mango beer and alcoholic ginger beer are the signatures, and the kitchen runs lamb ribs, barramundi, prawns and a well-regarded steak sandwich. Live music is a regular fixture, so it gets busy and loud at peak times.

Getting there. Address is 60 Hamersley Street, Old Broome, a few minutes from the town centre. There is free street parking plus a free on-site lot.

Nearby with the dogs. Town Beach is close for a walk, and the waterfront paths off Hamersley Street make an easy pre- or post-visit stroll. Check local signage for the pet areas and off-lead times.
