Jasmine Thai Restaurant sits at 7/2 The Palladio on the Mandurah Ocean Marina, and dogs are welcome on the outdoor timber deck that looks over the water. The boardwalk ends near its door, and the covered alfresco with clear blinds makes this one of the few marina dinner options that still works with a dog on a cool evening.

The dog setup

Dogs join you on the outdoor deck, not in the indoor dining room. The alfresco is sheltered by clear blinds, so wind and the afternoon breeze off the marina matter less than at open tables nearby. Keep your dog on a short lead close to the table and bring your own water bowl, as there is no dedicated dog station. Because the deck sits on the pedestrian boardwalk, pick a table where your dog can settle clear of the dinner-time foot traffic.

Worth knowing

The kitchen runs three sittings: breakfast from 7:30am on Saturdays and Sundays, lunch from 11am to 2pm, and dinner from 5pm to 8:30pm, with the dining room closed on Tuesdays. The menu is classic Thai, with salt and pepper squid, red curry duck, pad see ew and pad thai among the regulars, and a vegetarian-friendly spread across the curries and noodles. There is a takeaway list with compostable packaging if you would rather eat waterside, and bookings go through Quandoo or on (08) 9535 1764.

Getting there and parking

The restaurant sits at the end of the boardwalk in the Ocean Marina precinct. There is free parking around Dolphin Quay and The Palladio, and the walk from the car park to the deck is flat and step-free, which makes an easy approach if you are managing a lead, a bag and a coffee order at once.

Close by with the dogs

The marina boardwalk runs past the door for a leashed stroll before or after dinner, with Town Beach and the Dolphin Quay precinct close by. For a proper run, Bortolo Park in Greenfields has a designated off-leash area a short drive east. If you are making a day of the marina, Oysterbedz next door welcomes dogs on its deck as well, and Perch'd and Murphy's Irish Pub give you more dog-friendly tables within a short walk.
