King Ludwigs is an authentic German and Bavarian restaurant on Mountain View Road in Maleny, with picnic-style garden tables that look out over the Glasshouse Mountains. It is genuinely dog-friendly, but only in one spot and only by day, so the rules below matter before you drive up.

Nearby with the dogs. Mary Cairncross is just down the road but does not allow dogs on its rainforest trails. There are grassy roadside pull-offs along Mountain View Road for a Glasshouse Mountains photo, and Maleny town centre is a short drive for a dog-friendly coffee.

Best at a weekday lunch in good weather, when the garden is calm and the mountains are clear.
