Levee Food Co

Levee Food Co sits on the Seaport marina at 27 Seaport Boulevard, a few doors down from Mudbar, and it makes a point of welcoming dogs. Bring yours to the outdoor tables on the boardwalk and settle in over the water while you eat, with river views from the alfresco side.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the alfresco area on the boardwalk, kept on a lead and on the ground. The indoors is air-conditioned but off limits to dogs, so plan around the outdoor seating and the weather. Staff have a reputation for looking after the outdoor tables, including cranking the outdoor heating when it turns cool. Bring your own water bowl, because the marina deck can get warm on a sunny day.

The menu and the view

The draw is relaxed waterfront dining with a Tasmanian-sourced seafood and steak menu. Think fish and chips, oysters and calamari alongside heartier plates, with the North Esk river mouth as the backdrop. It works for a long lunch or an early dinner with the dog in tow, and it trades every day from late morning to around 8:30pm.

Getting there and parking

The dedicated Seaport public car parks are right outside, and it is a short, flat walk from the Launceston CBD, which makes it one of the easier waterfront venues to work with a dog on lead. Sunny days suit the outdoor tables best, and off-peak slots get you a roomier spot away from the lunch and dinner crush.

The Seaport boardwalk is at the door for a stroll along the marina. Next door you can compare notes from the alfresco terraces at Mudbar Restaurant and Rupert & Hound, and Heritage Forest Fenced Dog Park at Invermay is a short drive for some off-lead time.
