Kings Beach Bar

Kings Beach Bar sits right on the sand at 9 Levuka Avenue, Kings Beach, under the Rolling Surf Resort in Caloundra, and leashed dogs are welcome on its open-air terrace. It runs all day from 6am, starting with breakfast and barista coffee and moving through poke bowls, fish tacos and burgers as the beach fills up, with live music sessions through the week.

The dog setup

The outdoor terrace is the dog zone: on-lead, well-behaved dogs settle beside the tables a few steps from the sand, and it is a regular stop for locals finishing a beach walk. There is no published dog menu or water-bowl notice, so bring water for a hot morning. The indoor area is for humans only, and the terrace fills early on summer weekends, so time your visit accordingly or be prepared to wait for a table.

The menu and the vibe

The kitchen leans coastal casual: eggs benedict and breakfast burgers in the morning, then satay chicken bowls, poke bowls, calamari and fish tacos through the day, with craft beer on tap and cocktails in the afternoon. Hours are 6am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 6am to 8pm Sunday, with live music sessions across the week. Barefoot, sandy and relaxed is the dress code, and swimmers come straight up off the sand.

Getting there and parking

Kings Beach is the main swimming beach on the Caloundra headland, with paid parking along Levuka Avenue and the nearby terraces that fills fast on summer mornings. Note that dogs are not allowed on Kings Beach sand itself; the off-lead options are nearby, with Harry's Beach Bistro around the corner for a second meal option and Aurenda Coffee Co. for morning coffee, both in the same suburb.
