Islanders' Tavern

Islanders' Tavern sits right on the Hindmarsh Island Marina, and the reason to bring the dog is the shaded back deck, known locally as The Landing, which looks straight over the water to the Goolwa Channel.

Dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables on The Landing, the two-level deck at the back of the tavern. Keep your dog leashed and with you at the table; indoors is service animals only. Staff regularly bring out a water bowl without being asked, so bring your own if your dog is fussy about sharing.

Good to know. The kitchen runs a solid pub menu, schnitzels, salt and pepper squid, lamb shanks, alongside a proper wine list, so it works for a long lunch while the dog naps in the shade.

Getting there. The tavern is on Tolarno Drive, over the Hindmarsh Island bridge from Goolwa, with free parking right outside.

Nearby. The marina boardwalk makes an easy stretch for the dog before or after lunch, and Goolwa's dog-friendly spots are a short drive back over the bridge.

Go for a late lunch on a warm afternoon when the deck is shaded and the marina traffic gives the dog something to watch.
