This self-serve acai bar and juice cafe sits at Unit 1/109 Penneys Hill Road in the Penneyvale Shopping Centre, Hackham, in the city's southern suburbs. It is one of the southern suburbs' friendliest stops for dogs: the team welcomes them at the alfresco tables around the shopfront and pours water bowls without being asked, and the venue's own pages run regular dog features.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor and alfresco tables around the shopfront, on lead and kept clear of the main footpath and entrance. It is a self-serve counter rather than a sit-down restaurant, so there is no indoor seating arrangement to negotiate; keep a human at the table while the other orders. A perk worth planning around: the venue's own Facebook and Instagram run a dogs-eat-free offer with acai bowl purchases, sometimes with a coconut ice cream for the dog. Opening days are Wednesday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm and Saturday to Sunday 9.30am to 2pm, closed Monday and Tuesday, so check before a long drive.

The menu

The drawcard is the build-your-own acai bowl, loaded to taste with fresh fruit, granola, house-blended peanut butter, coconut flakes and chia, plus superfood extras like dragon fruit. The cabinet covers smoothies, organic juices, coffee, raw treats and vego nachos, with vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free toppings as standard. In the cooler months a cosy fire area warms the alfresco corner.
