Yarri Restaurant + Bar

Yarri Restaurant + Bar is the chef-driven, modern Australian dining room at 7/16 Cyrillean Way in central Dunsborough, built around South West produce and guided by chef Aaron Carr. It is an upscale lunch and dinner venue rather than a quick bite, and the tree-shaded outdoor courtyard takes dogs, which makes it one of the few refined tables in the region you can book with a dog in tow.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard, which is partly undercover, landscaped and shaded. Staff are reported to provide or fetch a water bowl on request, but bring a travel bowl as a backup for a long sitting. The main dining room stays dogs-free, and because this is a multi-course, sit-down experience, it suits calm dogs that will settle under a table for an hour or more.

The vibe and the food

The menu leans on the six Noongar seasons and local, sustainable West Australian produce. Expect wood-grilled marron with 'nduja and sunrise lime, wood-grilled prawns with burnt miso butter, and vegetable plates like burnt pumpkin with nori. There is a seasonal three-course choice menu and a six-course tasting menu, both with optional wine pairings, plus a strong regional wine and cocktail list and a happy hour from 4pm to 5pm on open days. Doors run Monday and Thursday to Sunday from 4pm to 10pm, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Getting there and parking

Cyrillean Way sits just off Dunn Bay Road in the town centre, with street parking nearby and public car parks within a short walk. It is an easy walk from most central Dunsborough accommodation, which helps if you are heading back along the foreshore with the dog afterwards.

Close by with the dogs

Dugalup Creek runs immediately alongside the restaurant for a short pre-dinner leg stretch, and the Dunsborough foreshore paths are on-leash but scenic along Geographe Bay. The City of Busselton has no fenced off-leash park in Dunsborough itself, so for a proper off-leash run before a long dinner, Vasse Dog Park is the nearest purpose-built fenced option, a drive up the bay. For other dog-friendly tables in town, Artezen takes dogs at its alfresco tables and Blue Manna Bistro is the seafood flagship nearby.

Max: Book the courtyard for a daylight sitting so the dog has something to watch, then finish the evening with an on-leash lap of the foreshore while the sunset does its thing.
