The Galley Carrum

The Galley sits at 7 Johnson Avenue right on the Carrum foreshore, a licensed beachside restaurant and cafe overlooking Port Phillip Bay. Breakfast and lunch run through the day with a deck-side sunset dinner service on weekend evenings, and it is one of the more deliberately dog-friendly venues on the bayside strip.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating and deck areas, not indoors. The venue goes beyond a water bowl: there is dedicated paw parking out the front for a quick takeaway stop, and the kitchen turns out puppuccinos so the dog gets a course too. For a sit-down visit, book or ask for an outdoor table when you arrive, since the indoor dining room is people only.

Worth knowing

Daytime is classic cafe fare: breakfast plates, eggs benedict, coffee and light bites. On dinner nights the kitchen runs a rotating sunset menu on the deck with pork ribs, sliders and sharing plates. Opening days shift between seasons and booking platforms list them differently, so check the venue's own pages before a long drive. The beachfront position next to the foreshore playground makes it a natural family-and-dog stop.

Getting there and parking

Johnson Avenue runs down to the Carrum beachfront, with foreshore car parking a short walk away and Carrum Station close enough to arrive on foot. The whole strip is flat and easy with a dog.

Close by with the dogs

Carrum Dog Beach is effectively next door, so a beach session and a Galley breakfast pair naturally. Roy Dore Reserve Fenced Dog Park covers off-lead time inland, and the Patterson River loop makes a longer walk with a coffee at either end.
