Saint Maries

Saint Maries is a wood-fired pizzeria and wine bar on Tweed Street in Brunswick Heads, doing Napoli-style pizzas with a natural wine list and a steady run of live music. It has a genuine reputation for being dog-friendly, and the outdoor tables are where you will want to be with one on a busy evening.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables on lead, settled beside the table. The venue markets itself as welcoming dogs inside as well, which is unusual for a restaurant kitchen precinct, so confirm with staff on the night as standard NSW food rules generally keep animals out of enclosed dining rooms. Bring a portable water bowl to be safe, and note the room gets lively with crowds and live music, so a dog comfortable with noise fits best.

The pizzas are the draw: puffy-crusted, thin, seasonal red and white bases with rotating toppings, backed by wild mushroom arancini, burrata and tiramisu, plus gluten-free and vegan options. There is a weekday happy hour from 3pm to 5pm with cheap beer and wine and select pizzas, and cocktails, craft beer and natural wine the rest of the time. Hours run 3pm to 9pm Monday to Friday, from 1pm on weekends. It fills hard on weekends and school holidays, so book ahead.

Getting there and parking

Saint Maries sits on Tweed Street, Brunswick Heads, a short walk from the river and the main drag. Free street parking runs along Tweed Street and the side streets, though it tightens up in school holidays.

Close by with the dogs

The Brunswick riverbank is minutes away for a pre or post-dinner stroll, and the Main Beach dog exercise area gives you an off-lead run nearby. For other dog-friendly tables on the strip, Footbridge Cafe and Old Maids both take dogs outside, and The Brunswick is a stay option in town.
