Locals knew the site as Salt Mill; the same crew now runs it as drift2483, keeping the acai bowls and the healthy takeaway habits of the old shop while serving one of the quicker coffee stops in town. Hours start at 6am, which makes it a reliable first stop on an early beach run.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath seating out front and stay outside, with water bowls typically put out for visiting dogs. The setup is takeaway-friendly rather than a big courtyard, so it works best for a coffee in hand or a short settle at the footpath table while your dog rests at your feet. Being right on the Tweed Street strip, leashed comings and goings are the norm.

Worth knowing

The menu leans fresh and fast: consistently good hot and iced coffee, smoothies, fresh juices, the acai bowls carried over from the Salt Mill days, plus quick bites, pastries and healthy takeaway with gluten-free and vegan options. This is a grab-and-go operation at heart, so expect counter service and a fast turnaround rather than table service.

Getting there and parking

Tweed Street is the main shopping strip of Brunswick Heads, an easy walk from anywhere in the town centre. Street parking along Tweed Street covers the cafe, though it fills up on weekends in summer. Trading wraps up at 1pm on weekdays and Sunday and 2pm on Saturday, so treat it as a morning call.

Close by with the dogs

The Brunswick Heads dog exercise beach is a short walk away for off-lead time after coffee, and the Main Beach dog exercise area gives a second stretch of sand. In the village, Footbridge Cafe and Old Maids are other dog-friendly stops.
