A walkable river pathway runs right out the front along the Esplanade for a pre- or post-meal stretch, and the West Tamar Council designates an off-lead exercise area on the Esplanade near the Mainwaring Street intersection. For a longer leg-stretcher, the Little Swan Point Walk south of town is a flat, roughly 7km return track on-leash with water views. Beaconsfield Fenced Dog Park is a short drive inland for a secure off-leash session, and Greens Beach north towards Bass Strait allows dogs in the undeveloped dune areas under council rules.
