Griller's Mark - The Grillhouse

The dog setup. Dogs join you at the sidewalk-frontage seating out front on Lydiard Street North. It is footpath dining, so dogs stay outside, but the staff are well used to them and will bring water. The standout is the dedicated doggie menu, with options like a wagyu-mince bowl, a chicken-and-bacon bowl, ham and cheese toasties and pup-paccinos, so your dog can actually order too.

Good to know. The kitchen is built on wood-grilled steaks, ribs and big burgers. It is a popular CBD spot, so the footpath tables can fill at peak meal times; a slightly off-peak booking gives you and the dog more room.

Getting there. It sits on Lydiard Street North, Ballarat's heritage street, in the heart of the CBD. Street parking runs along Lydiard and the side streets, some free, and it can be busy in the centre.

Nearby with the dogs. The Sturt Street gardens are a short walk for a leg stretch, and the Lydiard Street heritage frontages make for an easy wander before or after the meal.
