Morts Brewing Co.

Morts Brewing Co. is a small independent microbrewery at 25 Short Street, tucked behind Nambour's main street, pouring a rotating lineup of craft beers in a rustic taproom. Dogs are welcome alongside you in the outdoor and casual seating areas, and the place keeps a relaxed, community-minded feel: acoustic sets and open-mic nights are part of the routine.

The dog setup

Dogs settle with you in the covered outdoor and casual seating, on a lead. It is an intimate room, so a well-socialised dog suits it best, and water bowls are usually about, though bringing your own is the safe play. Afternoons are the calm window; weekend evenings fill up with locals and live music.

Worth knowing

The beer is the whole point: rotating taps spanning NEIPAs, West Coast IPAs, pilsners, pale ales and stouts, with locals singling out the ginger beer and the value of the cheese and meat platters, which come loaded rather than token. There is no full kitchen, so this is a drinks-and-graze stop, with food trucks and street food appearing during community events. Hours run Thursday and Sunday 12pm to 6pm and Friday and Saturday 12pm to 8pm, closed Monday to Wednesday, so plan the trip.

Getting there and parking

Short Street runs behind the Currie Street strip in central Nambour, and the entrance is easy to miss the first time: mapping apps sometimes point at the front street, so look for the tucked-away entry behind the main shops. Free street parking and nearby public lots cover you, and Nambour station is within walking distance.

Close by with the dogs

Take the edge off before a taproom session at Petrie Park's dog off-leash area along Petrie Creek, or stretch legs afterwards on the Gary Evans Walkway. Black Bunny Cafe and Bar in nearby Burnside is the sit-down dinner option for a full day out.
