Mapleton Public House

Mapleton Public House is a family-run country pub at 2 Flaxton Drive in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, working a farm-to-fork menu with big views over the valley. For dog owners the draw is the deck: a large outdoor area where dogs are welcome and where the outlook comes without giving up shelter.

The dog setup

Dogs go on the outdoor deck only, which is fully enclosed and partly covered, so there is cover from sun or a passing shower. Keep yours leashed and settled at the table, and mention you have a dog when you book because outdoor seating is where everyone wants to be.

Water bowls are not a confirmed part of the setup, so bring your own to be safe.

Worth knowing

The kitchen leans on local produce, regenerative practice and whole-animal butchery, which puts the food well above standard pub fare. Regular Sunday sessions and live music fill the deck, so expect a busier, louder room on those days.

Book ahead for weekends and aim for a table on the covered part of the deck if the weather looks changeable.

Getting there

The pub sits on Flaxton Drive in Mapleton village, reached up the Nambour-Mapleton Road from the coast. Street parking is available on Flaxton Drive and nearby side streets.

Burn off lunch at the Mapleton Lilyponds dog park a short trip away, one of the hinterland's proper off-leash setups.

One warning for walkers: dogs are not permitted in nearby Mapleton Falls National Park, so keep hinterland hikes to council land. In the village itself, La Galette 2.0 is a fellow Mapleton stop, and FishTales Seafood Cafe covers the casual meal option.
