Bud's Tavern

Bud's Tavern sits at 68 Owen St on Huskisson's main strip, a retro styled, family owned pub a short walk from the Jervis Bay waterfront. It is the kind of pub that works as the end point of a beach day: dogs are welcome out the front, the kitchen turns out pub staples until late, and the whole main strip is walkable with a dog on leash from the bay.

The dog setup

The venue's own site covers this one: dogs are welcome to sit with their owners in the outdoor seating area out the front of the tavern, and staff make sure water is available for them, which is a small thing that removes the usual ask at the door. The front area sits on the main strip, so there is passing foot traffic and other dogs to keep yours calm, and the indoor bar and bistro stay people only. If the front tables are full on a summer evening, it is worth waiting a lap rather than assuming a spot will open quickly.

The kitchen is classic pub: chicken parmi and chicken schnitzel headline, fish and chips suits the seaside setting, and a vegan burger keeps the whole table covered. Happy hour drinks run in the afternoon, and family ownership shows in the service, which visitors regularly call out as friendly. Hours run 12pm to 11pm Monday to Thursday and Sunday, extending to midnight Friday and Saturday, so dinner with the dog is realistic any night of the week.
