The Cork Bar

The Cork Bar is a rooftop cocktail bar above 112 Pakington Street in Geelong West, with a tan-and-green fit-out and afternoon sun over the shopping strip. Dogs are generally welcome in the open rooftop area, but because it is a rooftop with limited space, this is one to confirm before you go.

The dog setup

Dogs are generally welcome on the outdoor rooftop, but space is limited, so call ahead on 0461 510 808 or message the bar to confirm there is room before you commit. Bring your own water bowl and a mat for the dog to settle on, and note the rooftop access involves stairs, which rules the visit out for dogs that do not handle them.

The vibe

The bar is built around inventive cocktails, a decent wine list and cheese boards, with the French martini a regular mention. It is an afternoon-and-evening venue rather than a daytime one: open Thursday to Friday from 4pm, Saturday from 4pm and Sunday from 4pm, closing Mondays to Wednesdays. Best in the early part of a session, before the rooftop fills.

Getting there and parking

The bar is above the Pakington Street strip in Geelong West, a few minutes from central Geelong. Street parking on Pakington Street fills fast, so try side streets like Hope or Albert Street.

Close by with the dogs

You are central on Pakington Street for an on-lead stroll, and Sodi Cafe about 200 metres away covers the daytime coffee stop before an evening drink, with Bottles and Barrels another dog-friendly stop on the same strip. Bakers Oval nearby allows conditional off-lead use of the oval when no sport is on, and the fenced Wilsonson Heights dog park in Newtown is a short drive over.
