Sodi Cafe

Sodi Cafe at 149 Pakington Street is named after the owner's chihuahua, and the whole setup shows it. This is one of the most genuinely dog-set-up cafes in Geelong West: a proper dog menu with puppuccinos, pupcakes and biscuits, even dog birthday cakes to order, alongside a full brunch menu for the humans.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the front footpath tables and in the sunnier courtyard at the back, with water bowls provided and treats on hand. Staff are known for fussing over the dogs, so a sociable dog will have a good morning. The puppuccinos come served on a little board, often with lactose-free milk.

Worth knowing

The kitchen turns out generous brunch plates, chilli scrambled eggs, eggs benedict and breakfast burgers, poured with Ocean Grind coffee, and the venue is fully licensed if the morning stretches toward lunch. It opens 7:30am to 2pm daily, so it is a breakfast and lunch spot only, and the courtyard fills through the weekend brunch peak.

Getting there and parking

Pakington Street is the main strip through Geelong West, with free street parking along the strip and the side streets that fills through the weekend brunch peak, so earlier is easier.

Close by with the dogs

You are on the Pakington Street strip, so an on-lead wander past the shops works before or after, and 63 Degrees, Two Sisters Cafe and Poco Cafe Expres give the strip plenty of dog-friendly fallbacks.

Pepsi: a puppuccino and a sunny back-courtyard table is about as good as a brunch outing gets. Arrive early on weekends before the good spots go.
