Edge Geelong

Edge Geelong is a modern waterfront pub on Eastern Beach Road, looking straight over Corio Bay and the Geelong promenade. For dog owners, the draw is a proper one: a dog-friendly outdoor deck where the water views are, water and treats provided, and the whole foreshore circuit on your doorstep.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the venue's outdoor dining spaces, a deck that overlooks the bay and the adjacent parkland. Inside stays people-only, with service dogs the exception. The venue provides fresh water and treats for dogs, which puts it ahead of most pubs that merely tolerate an animal near a table. Keep your dog on lead and settled under the table; this is a busy waterfront spot rather than a quiet back room.

Max: the deck is enclosed and weather-proofed, so a cool Bellarine breeze does not end the sitting. Arrive early on weekends though, because the front tables go first.

The vibe

Lively, all-day and food-driven. The kitchen runs from breakfast through dinner, with the chicken parma, seafood laksa and arancini the dishes people keep ordering, plus cocktails and live music in the evenings. The position does half the work: people and dog watching on the foreshore, with Eastern Beach Reserve directly across the road for a pre-lunch walk.

Getting there and parking

The pub is at 6-8 Eastern Beach Road, Geelong, an easy walk along the waterfront path from the city. Paid parking sits out front along Eastern Beach Road with more in the nearby reserve car parks, and weekends are the times those fill fastest. The venue trades long hours daily, running late on Friday and Saturday nights.

Close by with the dogs

The promenade runs straight past the door for an on-lead walk, and Sailors' Rest and Pavilion are short walks along the same foreshore for other dog-friendly meals. For a longer outing, the Barwon River trail is a short drive south.
