What visitors mention
Sailors' Rest is a busy waterfront restaurant and bar on the corner of Moorabool Street and Eastern Beach Road, directly opposite the Geelong foreshore. It is a high-energy spot, and dogs fit into the ground-level al fresco area rather than the rooftop.
The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor al fresco dining on the pedestrian-walkway side, with umbrellas and bay views. The main dining rooms, second-floor lounge and rooftop bar are people-only, so dogs stay at ground level. Water bowls are often available, but bring a portable one for busy periods.
Good to know. The menu is broad and produce-driven with plenty of seafood, and the position right on Corio Bay is the headline. It draws a crowd, especially on sunny days and for events, so it can be loud for a nervous dog.
Getting there. 3 Moorabool Street, on the foreshore corner. Paid parking runs along Eastern Beach Road and the nearby Moorabool Street lot; it fills fast on weekends and warm days, so arrive early.
Nearby with the dogs. Eastern Beach Reserve sits directly opposite for an on-leash walk, the waterfront boardwalk stretches along the bay, and Edge Geelong and the Pavilion are a short walk along the same foreshore.
Best on a calm, sunny day for the al fresco tables. Go early or mid-week to dodge the weekend rush, and pick a quieter session for a noise-shy dog.
