The Baltic

The Baltic is a small, cosy cafe at 148 Little Malop Street in the Geelong CBD, tied to the local Lithuanian community and pouring Wild Timor coffee, and it is one of the few central Geelong cafes reported to welcome dogs inside rather than just at the footpath tables. When the bay wind is up, that indoor welcome is the whole reason to pick it.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the footpath tables out front, and the interior is relaxed enough that a well-behaved dog can settle under an indoor table. Water bowls are typically available and staff lean accommodating. There is even a resident border collie on the greeting roster. It is worth a quick word with staff when you walk in, since indoor access is at their discretion.

The vibe and the menu

This is a community-minded local rather than a polished brunch venue: a fireplace, bold Wild Timor coffee, breakfast scrolls, croissants, toasties and casual lunch, plus hot chocolate worth ordering. Hours run 8am to 2:30pm daily, so it is a morning-and-lunch stop. Come early if you want a quiet table before the CBD lunch run.

Getting there and parking

The Baltic sits on Little Malop Street near the Yarra Street corner, beside the Market Square car park, with paid and short-term street parking on the surrounding blocks. Geelong Railway Station and the Moorabool Street bus stops are both an easy walk, and the Corio Bay waterfront is five to seven minutes north on foot.

Close by with the dogs

The Little Malop Street precinct has plenty of dog-friendly outdoor seating to wander between, and SouthAmerica Coffee Co is a couple of doors up the same street. For waterfront parking and a bay walk, Pavilion Geelong sits right on Eastern Beach, and Brown Deli covers the CBD coffee-and-lunch crowd too.
