Crossroads Hotel

Crossroads Hotel sits out on the Sturt Highway about 25km west of Wagga Wagga, better known to locals as the Gullie Pub. It is the kind of country pub road-trippers aim for: cold beer, honest meals, free camping out the back, and a genuine welcome for travellers with dogs.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the front bar and the outdoor courtyard seating area, but not in the main indoor dining room, so plan around a courtyard or front bar table if you have the dog with you. Staff are accommodating as long as you respect the boundary.

If you are overnighting in the free camping area with a caravan, keep the dog on a lead and cleaned up after on the grounds. The big rig parking out the back makes it a straightforward stop with a dog in the car.

The vibe

Relaxed and unpretentious, popular with caravanners taking advantage of the free camping. The kitchen runs a classic pub menu: pizzas, burgers, steaks and a mixed grill with a reputation in the Riverina.

Max: the courtyard is the pick with a dog. Open air, room to settle, and nobody stepping over a lead on their way to the counter.

Getting there

The hotel is on the Sturt Highway at Collingullie, with free parking right out the front, so there is no hunting for a spot even towing a van. It works as a lunch stop westbound or an overnight before the last leg into Wagga.

Close by with the dogs

Heading into Wagga Wagga for supplies, the Narrung Street Fenced Dog Park is the spot for an off-lead stretch, and Makers Coffee House and The Early Bird cover the dog-friendly coffee end of town.
