Waste bags are not guaranteed on site, so carry your own. Dogs nervous around whistle-and-crowd noise will do better here at quiet times or not at all.

The complex is one of the region's main sporting grounds, which means the amenities are better than most parks: drinking water fountains, bench seating, some shade and public toilets, plus free on-site parking. The trade-off is the calendar. Football and touch fixtures and training fill the fields through the season, and a match wrapping up changes the mood of the place fast.

For actual off-lead time, the George Street Dog Park in the same suburb is a purpose-built fenced park with room to run, and it pairs neatly with a walk around the Gipps Street perimeter. Council also designates leash-free space at Chauvel Park and Jewry Park over in Tamworth proper if you are crossing the bridge anyway.
