Le Pruneau

Le Pruneau works out of a historic house on Bridge Street in West Tamworth, and it has become one of the town's more talked about breakfast addresses. The kitchen leans on organic and fresh produce, with shakshuka, house cakes, pies and kimchi appearing across the menu. Doors open from 6am Tuesday to Friday (service until 3pm) and 7am Saturdays until 2pm; the cafe closes Mondays and Sundays, so plan a dog visit around the working week or Saturday morning.

Worth knowing

Because the garden is the dog zone and the cafe trades five days a week, Saturday mornings are the natural window for a visit with the dog and they are also the busiest. Arrive early, keep the lead on while you find a table, and ask staff where they would prefer dogs to settle. The historic-house setting means most of the seating is close to buildings and garden beds rather than an open lawn.
