The dog setup
Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating only, so leave the indoor counters to the chocoholics. Well-behaved dogs on a leash can settle beside you at the outside tables within the retail precinct. Water bowls are not a given, so carry a collapsible one, and pick a table out of the foot traffic on Peel Street. There is no indoor access for dogs.
The vibe and the menu
The kitchen leans hard into Belgian chocolate: churros with chocolate dipping sauce, waffles, crepes, fondue platters, macarons and acai bowls, plus specialty hot chocolates, mochas and proper barista coffee. Loaded big breakfasts run through the morning for anyone who wants more than dessert. Doors open from 7am most days, closing at 5pm Monday to Saturday and 4pm Sunday. It suits a mid-walk coffee or a post-dinner churros run more than a slow Sunday brunch.
Getting there and parking
Tamworth Square sits at 432-452 Peel Street in the Tamworth CBD, and the cafe trades from shop 37A within the centre. The shopping centre car park is the easy option, and street parking along Peel Street and the surrounding blocks turns over steadily on weekdays. Peel Street is the town's main strip, so keep the leash short between the car and the tables.
Make a day of it
For a proper run before the churros, the fenced off-leash area at George Street Dog Park is a short drive west, with Gipps Street Sports Field nearby for an on-lead stretch. Powerhouse Park in East Tamworth also runs a fenced off-leash section with separate big and small dog areas. Back in town, Connections Cafe is the other CBD dog-friendly coffee stop if you are doing a lap of the strip.
