The dog setup

The fenced area is off-leash and the gates and perimeter fencing keep it contained, which suits dogs that are not reliable off-lead in open parks. Once outside the enclosure in the wider picnic ground, dogs go back on the lead under City of Launceston rules. Owners clean up, and bins are provided. Check the gate latches before letting a dog off near the entrance, and note there can be nearby traffic noise if your dog is sound-sensitive.

The water

Amenities go beyond the usual dog park: picnic tables, barbecues, clean toilets, a playground, and a free RV dump point with non-potable rinse water, which makes it a practical road-trip break as well as a local run. Weekday afternoons between roughly 3pm and 5pm and weekends bring the biggest crowds, so mornings or mid-afternoon on a weekday are calmer if you want the space to yourselves.
