Dog Park Scarborough

Scarborough's off-leash dog spot is the Queens Beach North off-leash area on Flinders Parade, a permanent sandy stretch where dogs can run and swim on the Redcliffe peninsula. It is a beach off-leash zone rather than a fenced dog park, so the boundaries matter.

The rules. Under Moreton Bay City Council, dogs are off-leash only on the sand and in the water between the beach access stairs and the northern rock groyne. Everywhere else is on-leash: the grassed areas, the footpath, the car park, and the section of beach south of the access stairs towards the boat ramp. Carry a lead at all times, keep your dog under effective control, clean up after them, and keep clear of any children's playground. It is not fenced, so a reliable recall is important near the road and car park.

The water and terrain. This is calm Moreton Bay water, soft sand, and gentle conditions, which suits social dogs and cautious swimmers. The usable off-leash sand shrinks at high tide, so check the tide before you set out if your dog likes room to run.

Getting there. Free parking runs along Flinders Parade beside the beach. It fills on fine weekends, so an early start is the easier park. TransLink bus routes run along the nearby Scarborough Road.

Nearby with the dogs. The Landsborough Avenue strip has several dog-friendly cafes for after, including Drift Coffee Company and Miss Sprinkles Gelato. For a fully fenced run, Kroll Gardens Dog Park at Clontarf is a short drive south.

Best early morning or late afternoon on a rising-to-mid tide, before weekend crowds build. Good for social dogs and gentle swimmers.
