Alder Reserve is a small, quiet neighbourhood off-leash area on Alder Court in Park Orchards, an open grassy patch tucked into a residential pocket rather than a destination park.

The rules. Dogs must be under effective voice control at all times, even off-leash, and kept on lead within about 10 metres of any playground or BBQ area. Dogs aren't permitted in playgrounds or fenced sporting grounds, and owners need to pick up waste and take it home or use the bins provided.

What's there. Just open grass and residential street surrounds. There's no water fountain or agility equipment at this size of site, so carry your own water.

Getting there. Access is via Park Road into the local streets, with on-street parking. It's best reached by car or on foot from nearby Warrandyte Road, direct bus access is limited.

When to go. This is a rarely crowded, small local spot, good for a nervous dog that needs space without other dogs around. Mid-morning to early afternoon on weekdays, or early on weekends, tends to be quietest.
