Ross Reserve on Lightwood Road is a big multi-use council reserve with a fenced off-leash dog area tucked inside it, alongside sports fields, an all-abilities playground and a skate park. The fenced section gives dogs room to properly run, and the wider reserve has proper facilities if you are making a morning of it.
The rules. Dogs can only run off-leash inside the fenced area itself; everywhere else in Ross Reserve they must stay on-leash. Keep voice control over your dog at all times, use waste bags and bin them, and stay at least 10 metres clear of playgrounds, barbecue areas and any sports fields in use. Aggressive dogs must be leashed and removed immediately.
What's there. Fully fenced off-leash area, on-site parking, public toilets, picnic areas and barbecues nearby, plus an all-abilities playground and running tracks in the wider reserve. Disabled access is available.
Getting there. The reserve is on Lightwood Road, an easy run off Princes Highway/Heatherton Road, with ample parking near the soccer fields and playgrounds. Noble Park train station is within walking distance, though it is a few blocks through residential streets.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes along Buckley Street near Noble Park Station are worth checking for outdoor seating; confirm before you sit down with your dog. Motels around Dandenong/Noble Park may take pets, but book ahead and confirm the policy directly.
Weekends and weekday evenings between 4pm and 6pm are peak times, especially with soccer training on the adjoining fields. Mid-morning on weekdays is quieter and better suited to training or a nervous dog. The ground can get muddy over winter, so check council notices if you are heading out after heavy rain.
