Pet policy

Off-leash applies only inside the fenced dog area at Clearview Street Park; outside it, dogs stay on lead. Toowoomba Regional Council requires effective control even within the fence, dogs must be registered, and dangerous, menacing or on-heat dogs are not permitted.

Clearview Street Park's dog off-leash area is a small, fully fenced run — about 1.5 acres in the Black Gully parks network at 1A Clearview Street, Newtown, on Toowoomba's north-west side. It is a neighbourhood-scale space rather than a regional one: a shelter, water fountains and a dog water bowl sit inside, and the fence line holds even with excitable dogs, but dogs wanting a long gallop need one of Toowoomba's bigger parks.

Leash status

Off-leash applies only inside the fenced area; outside it, dogs stay on lead. Toowoomba Regional Council asks for effective control even within the fence, and the usual exclusions apply — dogs must be registered, and dangerous, menacing or on-heat dogs are not permitted. Bins are provided; close the gate behind you going in and out.

Water and terrain

The run is grassed and gently sloped, with a shelter for shade and water fountains plus a dog bowl at the fence. Views run easterly across the Black Gully Park 3 playground and open space, so expect prams and kids on the shared edges of the precinct. For a longer walk, Black Gully Park 2 next door carries dense tree plantings and a pathway through a natural setting, on lead.

Max: it is fenced and small, which is the point — a quiet neighbourhood run, not a training ground. If your dog needs space to sprint, head for a bigger park.

Getting there and parking

The park is at 1A Clearview Street, Toowoomba City 4350, with street parking on Clearview Street. Local TransLink bus routes serve the Newtown side of the city if you are not driving.

When to go

Weekend mornings draw the regulars and the most playmates for a social dog. Mid-week mornings or early afternoons are quieter and better for one-on-one training or a nervous dog.

While you're out there

De Dutch Cafe is the local coffee stop with outdoor seating. Toowoomba's full off-leash network is mapped on council's dog off-leash guide if you want to plan a circuit.

More options are on the Queensland dog parks guide and the Newtown, QLD destination page.
