What visitors mention
Dru Point Fenced Dog Park is a fully enclosed, roughly one-hectare off-leash area on The Esplanade in Margate, with a 750-metre perimeter loop through light bush and grassland and water views over the D'Entrecasteaux Channel.
The rules. Dogs can run off-lead inside the fenced boundary but must be under effective control at all times. Four access gates keep the area secure, and there is a separate puppy or small-dog zone if your dog needs a gentler introduction. Bag dispensers and bins are provided, clean up after your dog. The park is managed by Kingborough Council, report any maintenance issues via Snap Send Solve.
What's there. Basic agility equipment sits in the south-western corner, there's a water tap with bowls, and shaded picnic tables for owners. The fenced area borders the wider Dru Point Bicentennial Park, which adds public toilets, a playground and BBQ areas if you're making a morning of it.
Getting there. Turn off the Channel Highway (B68) onto Beach Road, then onto The Esplanade. Drive past the playground and tennis courts for parking near the fenced entrance, or continue to the end of the road for a larger car park. Wheelchair-accessible parking and entrances are provided.
Watch-outs. The grass can grow long in the bushland sections, check your dog over for grass seeds after a run through the rougher edges.
Nearby with the dogs. Appelflap Cafe is right next door in the same park for a coffee and Dutch pastry afterwards. Waterview Gardens B&B, a short drive out toward Frosts Road, is a solid pet-friendly base if you're staying in the area.

Saturday afternoons and Sunday evenings are the busiest, Wednesday mornings tend to be quiet, and Monday and Thursday afternoons are your best bet for a near-empty loop. Good for dogs that need a genuinely secure off-leash space rather than an open reserve.
