Banjo Patterson Dog Park

Banjo Patterson Dog Park is a fenced, off-leash dog park inside Banjo Paterson Reserve on River Redgum Place in Lynbrook, set on the bank of a small lake with paved paths running around it. The fencing is the main draw: it is a proper secured area, not just an unfenced oval, so it works for dogs that cannot be trusted off-leash in the open.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash only inside the fenced enclosure. Once you are back out on the surrounding parkland and the connecting Lynbrook Creek Trail, leads go back on. Even inside the fence, keep your dog under voice control and pick up after them, bins are provided.

What's there. A water tap for topping up bowls, waste bags and bins at the gate, and paved paths looping the lake for a walk afterwards. A playground and toilets sit nearby, useful if you have kids in tow as well as the dog.

Getting there. It is about 300 to 400 metres north-northeast of Lynbrook Station, an easy walk for train commuters. By car, residential streets around Paterson Drive handle parking without much fuss.

Nearby with the dogs. Miss Tilly's Delights, a few minutes away on Raylee Place, does coffee and homemade food with outdoor seating for dogs after a run. Lynbrook Wetlands Park is also close by for a longer walk.

Weekends, especially Sunday afternoons and evenings, draw the biggest crowds, along with a reliable rush from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. If you want the park closer to yourself, Thursday evenings and weekday middays are the quieter windows.
