Coronation Park Fenced Dog Park(Longford)

Coronation Park Fenced Dog Park occupies the western side of Coronation Park in Longford, off Tannery Road, and gives Northern Midlands dogs a genuinely secure off-leash run. The fully fenced field has a double-gated entrance, so nothing bolts on the way in or out.

The dog setup

The standout feature is a set of agility apparatus for active dogs, which is uncommon in parks this size. There are picnic tables and seating for owners, a water tap for hydration, and doggy bags with bins on site. Shade trees take the edge off summer sessions.

There is no lighting, so this is a daylight-only park. The ground can hold water and get boggy after heavy Tasmanian rain, so expect a wet dog and check conditions in winter months.

Worth knowing

Off-leash applies strictly inside the fence. Under Northern Midlands Council's dog control rules, dogs must stay under voice control and in sight even within the enclosure, and the surrounding recreation ground reverts to on-leash once you step out. Clean up as you go; the bags and bins make it easy.

Max: the fence is genuinely secure with a double gate, but the parkland outside it is not off-leash, so do not assume the whole reserve is fair game.

Getting there

Free street parking lines the access roads next to the park. There is no direct bus stop at the gate; the Merseylink service runs from Launceston into Longford, leaving a 10 to 15 minute walk in from the town centre.

While you're out there

JJ's Bakery in the Longford town centre has dog-friendly outdoor seating for a coffee stop after a run. If you want a different fenced option, the Perth Dog Exercise Area at Mulgrave Street has dual enclosures and its own agility gear, and Launceston's Coronation Park Fenced Dog Park is about 20 minutes away.
