Coronation Park Fenced Dog Park(Longford)

Coronation Park Fenced Dog Park sits on the western side of Coronation Park in Longford, off Tannery Road, and gives Northern Midlands dogs a genuinely secure off-leash run: a fully fenced field with a double-gated entrance so nothing bolts on the way in or out.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash inside the fenced area, but owners still need to keep them under voice control and in sight. Doggy bags are provided and waste goes in the bins on site. Northern Midlands Council's general dog control rules apply in the surrounding recreation ground, so leash up again once you're outside the fence.

What's there. The park has a set of dog agility apparatus for active dogs, picnic tables and seating for owners, and a water tap for hydration. There's no lighting, so it's a daylight-only spot, and the ground can hold water and get boggy after heavy Tasmanian rain.

Getting there. Free street parking is available along the access roads next to the park. There's no direct bus stop at the gate; the Merseylink service runs from Launceston into Longford, leaving a 10-15 minute walk in from the town centre.

Nearby with the dogs. JJ's Bakery in the town centre has dog-friendly outdoor seating for a coffee stop after a run. Longford Riverside Caravan Park is close by and pet-friendly, though it's worth confirming conditions when you book.

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest for one-on-one play; weekday afternoons from 4 to 6pm and weekend mornings from 9 to 11am draw the biggest crowds. If it's packed, the wider parkland around the fence is good for an on-leash walk while you wait for space.
