Latrobe Fenced Dog Park

Latrobe Fenced Dog Park sits inside Bosworth Park near the corner of Stanley and Gilbert Streets, and it is the pick in town for a dog that needs a genuinely secure run. The fully fenced, off-leash enclosure has a double-gated entry and an agility course with a full run of obstacles.

The dog setup

Dogs are off lead only inside the fence and leashed everywhere else in Bosworth Park and on surrounding streets. Close the outer gate before opening the inner one, keep dogs under effective control even inside, and use the bins for waste.

The enclosure adjoins the wider park, so dogs stay at least 10 metres from the children's playground there. Check the on-site signage for any current conditions before relying on the setup being unchanged.

Max: the agility course is the standout for a small-town park. A dog that needs a job as much as a run gets both here.

Worth knowing

Seating and some sheltered spots cover the owners, and the grass is maintained, but shade over the seating is limited and the enclosure can get warm in summer. Morning sessions are the sensible option through the warmer months. The broader Bosworth Park adds public toilets, a drinking fountain, a pump track, an oval and a fenced playground.

The park handles a proper training session as well as free play, and the fencing means a young dog can be given more freedom than an unfenced reserve allows. Waste bags are on you; bins are inside the enclosure.

Getting there and parking

On-site parking sits off the Stanley and Gilbert Street corner, an easy walk from Latrobe's main street cafes and shops. That makes the coffee part of the loop rather than a separate trip, and the whole stop works well as a leg-stretch on the drive between Devonport and the Cradle Country routes.

While you're out there

Shadows Cafe is the local coffee stop, and the Warrawee conservation area adds an on-lead bushwalk close by. Devonport Dog Park is the bigger option fifteen minutes north, and Thompsons Park covers another Latrobe green space.
