Off leash dog park (unfenced)

The unfenced off-leash area at Pioneer Park on Lucas Drive gives Lamb Island residents and visitors a quiet, grassed space for open running, away from major traffic. It is a simple community park, not a fenced facility, so it suits dogs with solid recall rather than those who tend to wander.

The rules. Dogs must be under effective voice control at all times and return immediately when called. Leash up until you are inside the designated off-leash zone, and again the moment you leave. Clean up after your dog using the supplied Ecosac dispensers, and keep dogs at least 10 metres from any playground or fitness equipment. Dangerous or menacing dogs are prohibited, and dogs must not disturb local birdlife or fauna.

What is there. The park offers open grassed space, a drinking water station near the tennis courts, and an Ecosac dispenser with a disposal bin. There is no designated shaded seating and no water bowls within the off-leash area itself, so bring a portable bowl.

Getting there. Lamb Island is reached via the Sealink passenger ferry from Redland Bay. Pets on the ferry must be leashed and muzzled, or carried in a pet carrier. Residents typically barge vehicles across, while visitors generally walk or cycle from the jetty. The park sits centrally on Lucas Drive.

Watch-outs. This is an unfenced area, so any dog that cannot be reliably called back should stay on a lead. Shade is limited, and the island has very few commercial dining options, so pack a picnic and bring everything your dog needs.
