Michael Park Off Leash Dog Park

Michael Park on Orange Grove Road is a fully fenced off-leash dog park in Highfields, with a double-gate entry that makes it a safe pick for dogs still learning their recall.

The rules. One large unified run, with no separate section for small or large dogs. Keep your dog on-leash until you are inside the fenced area, keep it under effective control off-leash, and make sure it wears a collar with an ID tag. Bins are provided, so clean up straight away.

What's there. A water fountain for dogs and people, public toilets, picnic tables and a gazebo for shade, plus wood-fired barbecues nearby. The double-entry gate keeps escapes down. Bring your own bowl if you would rather not share the fountain.

Getting there. Off the New England Highway via Cawdor Road onto Orange Grove Road, with free on-site parking. Public transport to the park is very limited, so a car is the sensible choice.

Nearby with the dogs. Harris Park off-leash area is close by, and the cafes around Highfields Village near Cawdor Road, roughly a five-minute drive, do dog-friendly outdoor seating.

When to go. It is generally quiet, busier on weekends and around Sunday morning, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, and Saturday morning. For a nervous dog, weekdays between 10am and 2pm are calmest.
