Harris Park - Dog Off Leash Area

Harris Park sits on Highfields Road, and its draw is a fully fenced off-leash area on the southern side of the park, so your dog can run loose behind a secure perimeter while the rest of the park stays on-leash.

The rules. The off-leash zone is the fenced southern section only. Keep your dog on-leash walking through the general park to reach it, stay within voice control and sight once inside, and pick up after your dog using the bins provided. Dogs with a history of aggression should stay out.

What's there. A large, open grassed run with drinking water on site, room to throw a ball, and accessible parking. It is an open space with little shade, so bring water on hot Queensland afternoons even though taps are available.

Getting there. The address is 22-38 Highfields Road, easily reached off the New England Highway with on-site parking. Public transport is limited, so a car is the practical option.

Nearby with the dogs. Michael Park off-leash dog park is about 1.1km away if you want a change of scenery, and several cafes along the New England Highway in Highfields do outdoor seating that welcomes dogs.

When to go. Early mornings and late afternoons are busiest, especially on weekends. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest. The run is large enough to give a nervous dog space from the pack.
