What visitors mention

river

A quiet, spacious off-leash park by the river. Pridmore Park runs off Mason Street in Hawthorn, alongside the Yarra. It is a calmer, more local off-leash spot than the busier Boroondara parks, with open grass, shade trees and dirt paths, and enough room for a proper run.

The rules. Dogs may be off-lead within the designated area under effective voice control, and on-lead in the surrounding parts of the reserve. Carry a lead and supervise your dog. Waste bags are not always stocked here, so bring your own. The park is not fully fenced; it relies on natural boundaries, so mind the river edge.

What is there. There is a drinking fountain, plus seating and tables. The reserve also has a dirt walking path, a small soccer pitch and a fenced children's playground, which is handy if you have kids in tow. Note there are no public toilets on-site.

Getting there. There is no dedicated car park; parking is on the surrounding residential streets, mainly Mason Street. It is an easy walk from local Hawthorn streets.

When to go. Busiest early morning and late afternoon when locals do the dog walk; weekday middle of the day is the quietest. A good, low-key option when the bigger parks are packed.
