Greenway Dog Park

Greenway Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash park on Mortimer Lewis Drive in Greenway, set on well-kept grass near Oxley Hill on the eastern shore of Lake Tuggeranong. It is the Tuggeranong dog park, open around the clock, and its two separated enclosures for big and small dogs make it one of the safer bets in Canberra for a nervous or small dog that still wants a proper run.

The dog setup

The park splits into two separate fully fenced zones, one for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs, each with a secure double-gated entry. Inside there are open grassy stretches for running, logs and agility elements for exploring, water bubblers with bowls, waste bag dispensers and bins, bench seating for owners, and shade from mature eucalypts and shade sails. Entry and parking are wheelchair accessible.

Worth knowing

ACT rules apply inside: stay in the enclosure with your dog, keep it under direct supervision, and have a leash ready to slip back on. Any dog that harasses people or other dogs has to be leashed and taken out immediately, and female dogs in season are not permitted. Clean up every time; ACT penalties apply for uncollected waste and also for not carrying bags, so keep a supply on you. Weekend mornings and afternoons are busiest, and weekday mid-morning to mid-afternoon is the calm window for unsure dogs.

Max: use the double gates properly, one dog at a time, and check the far gate is latched before you unclip. It only takes one bolter to turn a good visit bad.

Getting there and parking

The park sits directly off Mortimer Lewis Drive, reached easily from the Tuggeranong Parkway or Athllon Drive, with on-site parking at the gate. The Tuggeranong Bus Interchange is the nearest transport hub, a short walk away, and the paved Lake Tuggeranong foreshore track connects straight into the park for anyone arriving on foot.

Close by with the dogs

Follow the park time with the on-leash Lake Tuggeranong loop from the same shore, or head up Mount Taylor Reserve for a hillier outing. For coffee, BrewBar Reed Street is minutes away in the town centre, and Abode Tuggeranong takes dogs overnight just up the road.
