Abode Tuggeranong

Abode Tuggeranong is an apartment-style hotel at 46 Rowland Rees Crescent in Greenway, in the heart of the Lake Tuggeranong town centre, and it is one of the few hotels in Canberra's south that formally takes dogs. Rooms come with kitchens, laundry facilities and balconies, which makes it a workable base for a Tuggeranong stay with the dog rather than just an overnight pit stop.

Dogs at the hotel

Dogs of any size are accepted in designated pet-friendly rooms, up to two per room, through the hotel's pet package, which carries a per-pet nightly fee listed at $40. Pet rooms are limited and subject to availability, so book directly with the hotel, select the pet package, and confirm a pet room is actually held for your dates. In common areas pets stay on a lead or in a carrier, and they cannot be left unattended in the room or cause noise or damage.

Worth knowing

The town centre location does the heavy lifting: restaurants and shops are within walking distance, the lake foreshore is minutes away for the evening walk, and the fenced Greenway Dog Park is a short drive for off-lead time. Because the rooms are apartment-style with full kitchens and in-room laundry, longer stays are realistic with a dog in the routine.

Getting there and parking

The hotel sits off Rowland Rees Crescent in Greenway, about 20 minutes south of Canberra's centre via the Tuggeranong Parkway or Monaro Highway, with on-site parking and the Tuggeranong bus interchange nearby. Everything a dog needs day to day is reachable without the car.

Close by with the dogs

The Greenway Dog Park is the obvious off-lead stop minutes away, and the Lake Tuggeranong loop handles the on-lead walks from the door. For coffee, Wonder by Alice and Bunny Beans Cafe are both in the town centre.
