Temple Terrace Dog Park

Temple Terrace Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area in Gray, a suburb of Palmerston south of Darwin. Reached via Camelion Court, it serves the local Gray and Moulden area as a quiet, functional neighbourhood park: a secure enclosure where dogs can run freely inside a residential pocket, without the crowd of the bigger Palmerston dog parks.

The dog setup

Inside the fence the rules are the Territory standard: your dog stays under effective voice control at all times, you carry a leash even when it is not clipped on, and waste is picked up immediately. Aggressive dogs are not permitted inside the enclosure. The surface inside is generally sandy or natural dirt rather than manicured lawn, which drains well in the wet season but gets dusty in the dry. Surrounding trees provide basic natural shade, and there is typically seating for owners. Water access may be available in upgraded areas nearby, but do not rely on it inside the fence, so bring your own.

Max: this is the Top End, so cane toad risk is real. Keep your dog away from the fence line and edges, especially during the wet season, and avoid visiting in extreme heat.

Getting there and parking

Street parking is available on Camelion Court. If you are on public transport, bus stops sit on Temple Terrace within walking distance of the entrance. The park sits close to the Gray and Moulden residential blocks, so most visitors walk in from the neighbourhood.

When to go

Aim for early morning before 8am or late afternoon after 5pm, both for the dog traffic and the temperature. The enclosure gets hot in the afternoon sun, and crowds are sparse outside weekend mornings and weekday after-work hours. Carry extra water regardless of the season, because the Top End heat does not take days off.
