What visitors mention
Bakewell Fenced Dog Park (also known locally as Maurice Terrace Dog Park) is a fully fenced, off-leash reserve on Maurice Terrace in this Palmerston suburb, opened by Palmerston City Council in 2021. It gives Top End owners something the Territory heat makes genuinely useful: a secure grassy paddock to let a dog run without a leash, minutes from home.
The rules. Dogs run off-leash only inside the fenced paddock, and it's on you to keep the gate properly latched behind you, locals report the catch can be fiddly. Keep an eye on your dog's behaviour around others in the yard and bag and bin any mess using the bags provided when the dispenser is stocked.
What's there. A water fountain for dogs, some agility equipment for active dogs to work off energy, and shaded seating for owners. The ground is open turf, which means it can turn muddy after wet-season downpours, so stick to the shaded, elevated patches if it's recently rained.
Getting there. The park sits at 52 Maurice Terrace, Bakewell NT 0832, reached via local Palmerston roads. Free street parking is available right by the park, and a bus route runs through the suburb if you'd rather leave the car, though it's a short walk from the nearest stop.

Nearby with the dogs. Palmerston has two more fenced dog parks worth the drive if Bakewell is busy: Marlow Lagoon Fenced Dog Park and Zuccoli Fenced Dog Park.
Go early morning or after 5pm. The middle of the day in the Territory means hot pavement that can burn paw pads, and cane toads turn up around dusk, so keep dogs close and away from anything hopping in the grass at last light.
