Marlow Lagoon Fenced Dog Park

Marlow Lagoon Fenced Dog Park at 36 Elrundie Avenue is the Top End's standout off-leash park: a large, fully fenced bushland reserve in Palmerston with a genuine swimming lagoon inside the enclosure and separate sections for small or quieter dogs. It is open around the clock, which matters when the only sane walking hours in the Build-Up are before sunrise and after dark.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies inside the fenced zones, and dogs stay leashed until both gates are closed behind you. The park uses double-gated entries at multiple access points, so check the gate behind you before unclipping. City of Palmerston animal management laws apply: pick up after your dog immediately, and leash up and leave if a dog turns aggressive. The internal zones are divided by purpose, including a small dog area and quieter training sections, and the fenced runs carry a good spread of agility obstacles.

The lagoon is the headline for water-loving breeds: real swimming space in a natural setting, shaded by bushland with paved, covered rotundas for the handlers. A drinking fountain covers both ends of the leash. The water level moves with the seasons, so check the depth and the edges before your dog commits to a launch, and expect mud after the wet.

The vibe

This is a serious social park with a regular local crowd, well reviewed and well used. Early mornings and late afternoons draw the biggest groups in the dry season; midday belongs to the diehards under the rotundas. A children's playground with musical instruments sits nearby, which makes the stop practical for families as long as dogs stay supervised.

Getting there and parking

The park is about five minutes from the Palmerston town centre, turning off University Avenue onto Elrundie Avenue, with parking at the reserve. Palmerston Interchange, the bus hub for the region, is a short drive away for anyone coming from Darwin without a car.
