What visitors mention
Barkley Fenced Dog Park on Duncan Loop is the biggest of Googong's three fenced parks and the one built around water. Alongside the usual grass and dirt run, it has a large fenced swimming dam, which makes it the pick for a dog that actually wants a swim rather than just a sniff around.
The rules. The whole area is fenced and off-leash, but dogs still need to be under effective control, especially around the dam. Owners are supervising, not spectating: the water draws a crowd, and not every dog in there wants company mid-swim. Check the fence line as you enter; local reports mention the odd gap forming over time.
What's there. Basic agility equipment, a fresh water station for dogs who skip the dam, seating for owners, and waste bags provided at the gate. Bring your own bags as backup, since dispensers do run out.

Getting there. The park sits at 46 Duncan Loop, Googong, reached via Wellsvale Drive and the local street network. There's street parking along Duncan Loop and it's an easy walk from most of the township on Googong's internal footpaths. No dedicated public transport runs to the park itself.
Nearby with the dogs. Googong North Village Centre has a handful of cafes with outdoor seating for a coffee after the walk, and Queanbeyan, about 10 to 15 minutes away, has more options plus pet-friendly motels if you're travelling in from further out.
Weekday evenings from about 5:30pm to 7:30pm and weekend mornings are the busiest, largely thanks to the dam. For a calmer visit, aim for a weekday midday or an early weekend morning, and always size up the dam crowd before letting a nervous dog near the water.
