Capital Reserve is a large, open off-leash space in Glen Waverley, built around a playing oval at 80 Capital Avenue. It is a mixed-use community park, shared with the tennis club and active sports fields, so the off-lead space depends on what else is running that day.

The rules. Under City of Monash rules, dogs run off-lead but must stay under effective voice control, with a lead carried at all times. Dogs are not permitted on the sportsground while organised sport or training is in progress, and must be on-lead on the surrounding pedestrian paths and in the car park. Keep dogs clear of the fenced playground, and within 20 metres of play equipment or BBQ areas in use. Clean up after your dog.

What's there. The reserve has extensive grass for running, bench seating, an upgraded playground with a timber play fort and nature-play trail, and cricket nets. There is an accessible car park. Bring your own water and bowl, as dedicated dog water is not guaranteed.

Getting there. Access is via Capital Avenue with on-site parking. The nearest train is Glen Waverley Station, roughly 3 kilometres away, with local buses along High Street Road.

When to go. The reserve is large enough that crowds tend to disperse, but check for sport before you rely on the oval. Weekday afternoons and quieter weekend slots suit anxious dogs best; if the ground is booked, walk the on-lead paths instead.
