Burke Road South Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Burke Road South Reserve is a relaxed open grassy space off Parkin Street in Glen Iris, with 24/7 off-leash access in the designated area. It is a low-key local spot for ball throwing and casual play rather than a large fenced park.

The rules. Dogs must be on-leash in car parking areas and while walking to the reserve, then may go off-leash in the designated zone. Carry a lead at all times and keep your dog under effective voice control. Dogs are not allowed in the playground and must be on-leash within 10 metres of it, kept off sports ovals during organised matches, and at least 30 metres from in-use BBQ or picnic areas. Bag and bin any waste.

What is there. Dog waste bins and bags are supplied, and there is open green space suited to a picnic. Amenities are otherwise minimal, this is a neighbourhood reserve.

Getting there. The reserve sits near the end of Parkin Street off Burke Road South. Park on nearby residential streets and check the signage. Tram route 72 runs along Burke Road, and Gardiner Station on the Glen Waverley line is close by.

Nearby with the dogs. The Old Garage on Glen Iris Road has a shaded outdoor area with dog treats and puppuccinos. AM Bakehouse on Glen Iris Road also has outdoor space.

When to go. Busiest on weekends and late afternoons from about 4pm to 6pm. With 24/7 access, an early morning before 8am is the quietest run.
