Elmhurst Park Fenced Dog Park

Elmhurst Park's dog area, on Elmhurst Road in Gladstone Park, is fully fenced, a genuine drawcard for owners whose dogs cannot be trusted off-leash near an open boundary. It sits within the larger Elmhurst Park alongside a playground and skate area, and it is managed by Hume City Council.

The dog setup

Dogs can run off-leash only inside the fenced perimeter, with secure gates and seating for owners inside or nearby. Once you are back in the surrounding parkland, near the playground, or in the car park, dogs need to be on a leash, and council rules require dogs to wear current registration tags and stay under effective control even inside the fence.

A drinking fountain and waste bags cover the basics, and owners are expected to clean up after their dogs. The fence is the headline: you can relax and let them sniff everywhere without watching the gate the whole time.

The vibe

The wider reserve is a busy community park with a large playground, skate area, basketball half-court, BBQs and public toilets, so it stays active on weekends while the dog enclosure itself remains relaxed. Families often run the playground and the dog park as a double session.

The park is at 20 Elmhurst Road in Gladstone Park, with a dedicated off-street car park serving the reserve. It is a short drive off the Tullamarine Freeway and walkable from most of the suburb.
